Oak sleeper wall, Indian sandstone patio and Balau hardwood decking

The objective here was to create a single level that eliminated the need for steps into the house. Also to build a wheelchair access ramp. All patio was too much as was all decking so we came up with a blend of the two. The oak retaining wall, planters and bench compliment the sandstone and decking.

Oak sleeper wall, new turf and Indian sandstone patio

Another opportunity to replace an existing patio with something “lighter and more modern”. We suggested replacing the small retaining wall with oak sleepers to add to the modern look. The steps were to be made wider and to incorporate the stone and wood.

Indian sandstone patio on two levels

The brief here was to replace an old patio with an updated, random syle new one. The existing brick surrounding the patio and steps were to be left and,if necessary, repaired.

Oak sleeper planter, oak edging and new turf

This area was overgrown and blocking light into the house. The plan was to remove all the shrubs and create a lawn instead. The planter was suggested to add height to the space and to link the oak edging.

Turf removal, brick outline, planter and gravel

We were tasked with removing the turf from this front garden and replacing it with gravel. The raised curb surrounding the driveway had to be removed too as it was a trip hazard. Agarden sleeper planter was also made for the rear garden.

Indian sandstone patio, decorative stone and planters

Another project which required a low-maintenance outcome. Our customer was keen for us to create a blank canvas on which to showcase her large collection of pot plants. Planters were requested as a means of additional planting as well as screening.

Indian sandstone patio and gravel path repair

A small patio was required to extend the footprint of the summerhouse. An existing path edging was replaced and additional gravel topped up.

New turf, extend decking, add utility patio, plant hedge, planter

Featherboard fence

Featherboard Fence

We advised a complete replacement to an existing fence made up of posts and panels. Unbelievably, the posts had been sunk to a depth of 20cm and then back-filled without any concrete so a month after installation they began to work their way loose. The tradesman was recalled to rectify the problem, their solution appearing to be a thin layer of cement around the base of each post. Needless to say this too failed. Our solution cut no such corners and each post has been sunk to a depth of 65cm and filled with concrete. As a bonus the Laurel hedge behind the fence provides a wonderful contrast and compliments the brown slats. Our customer looks forward to welcoming us back in the spring for phase two of the garden.

Indian sandstone patio, sleeper planters and an arch

Old paving slabs were removed and a new, modern patio was added to increase the existing footprint. Planters were built to flank a metal arch and provide height and interest to the new patio. The old paving slabs were utilised in constructing a base for the new greenhouse…no doubt to grow an assortment of flowers for the planters :-)

Featherboard Fence

A much needed replacement fence gave this property a new look.

Featherboard Fence and gate

The old fence on this property was barely standing and the customer also felt it to be a security risk. A think a far surdier solution has been provided :-)

Indian sandstone patios, garden sleeper walls/planters and a pergola

The prime motivation for this garden improvement was so that a seating area could be created for adults and the retaining wall to be made safer for the young children. We also changed and increased the existing patio footprint. Our customers were delighted with the outcome, so much so that they furnished us each with a bottle of Bollinger on complettion. Just saying.

Indian sandstone patio, pergola and planters

We were called in to remove the old decking and to replace it with a more contemporary look. The colour of sandstone was chosen by our customer and we would have to agree that it was the right choice for their space and the look they wanted to create. The pergola adds some hight to the space and we look forward to seeing the pictures when the climbing plants have covered it.

Circular patio

We were quite simply asked to install a large circular patio with some edging. Done.

Sandstone patio, Planters and replacement artificial grass

Our customer had an area of the garden that was not being fully utilised owing to the uneveness of the existing patio. We were tasked with replacing the patio with something more modern as well as providing a area of planting. There was an area of artificial lawn that also needed to be refreshed. We cannot take credit for the wonderful planting, however, as this was completed by our client.

Patio replacement

The existing patio slabs were removed and when digging down we discovered that it had been laid on top of an older patio. Beneath that was a solid concrete bed, almost a foot deep in places, which had sunk in part. It all had to be broken up and dug out. The drains were the next challenge but we overcame that too and the outcome was a more aesthetically pleasing, level and safer patio.
